Job Summary This is a MS SQL Server DBA and T-SQL developer role largely responsible for providing operational database services to both development and production databases at the agency. The role includes typical DBA functions such as database backup and recovery, troubleshooting and monitoring. The administrator will choose appropriate database technologies and be responsible for database installation and configuration, as well as, deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors. The role will also serve as a development DBA and SQL developer. The position’s developer role will include reviewing query performance and optimizing code, writing queries used for front-end applications (websites, desktop applications, or cloud apps), designing and coding database tables to store the application’s data, data modeling to visualize database structure, working with application developers to create optimized queries, creating database triggers for automation, (e.g., automatic email notifications), creating table indexes to improve database performance, and programming views, stored procedures, and functions. Applies professional/managerial principles and judgment, within overall direction established by senior management. Solves complex technical or strategic problems; applies technology or business approaches in new ways; develops and recommends new alternatives. Frequent interaction to provide detailed procedural explanations or technical responses and/or occasional contact to negotiate basic agreements.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions · Owning, tracking and resolving SQL Server database related incidents and requests. · Fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs. · Reviewing service related reports (e.g: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) daily to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs. · Responding to database related alerts and escalations. · Providing strategic solutions to recurring problems and application or systems development requests. · Draft and manage enterprise data architecture and strategy. · Design, develop and maintain data warehouses. · Write, review and optimize SQL code. · Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience · Associates’ Degree in Computer Science, Social Science, Business Planning or Administration, or related degree or experience · 2 years of prerequisite related work experience
· Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.
· Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively. · Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure.
· Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc.
· Experience with SQL Server database administration, design and maintenance, preference for SQL Server 2016. · Experience with troubleshooting hardware supporting database systems. · Experience with writing and improving SQL Server T-SQL queries. · Demonstrated experience with software requirements, design and documentation. · Intermediate MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and Project). · Familiarity with Office 365. · Advanced organizational skills, efficiency skills and excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis.
Essential Physical & Mental Requirements Employee is subject to standing, stooping, walking, lifting, and carrying objects throughout daily job performance. Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds. Extensive travel to locations across Tulsa County. Regular and reliable attendance required.
